Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has tested positive for  coronavirus  ( COVID-19 ). Governor Akeredolu announced this on Tuesday in a Facebook post. He disclosed that his sample had been collected to test for COVID-19 and the result came back positive earlier before the announcement. The governor, however, noted that he was asymptomatic and has yet to show any symptoms of the disease. He also revealed that following the positive test result he received, he has gone into self-isolation while his case would be managed by a team of health officials at the state Infectious Disease Hospital. Governor Akeredolu said, “Earlier today, I got confirmation of a positive result for Covid-19. I am asymptomatic and not displaying any symptoms. “I am currently self-isolating and supervised home management will be administered by the wonderful team at our Infectious Disease Hospital. A 22-year-old Chemistry undergraduate of University of Ilorin, UNILORIN, Ajayi Joshua Oluwatobi has been sentenced to nine months imprisonment by Kwara state high Court for defrauding three fellow students who were seeking accommodation. Convicted UNILORIN Student, Ajayi Joshua The convict was prosecuted on three count-charges by the Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC). One of the charges read: “That you, Ajayi Joshua Oluwatobiloba, in the month of November 2019, in Ilorin, within the jurisdiction of this honorable court, did cheat by deceiving one Anjorin Oluwabukolami Eniola, a University of Ilorin student when you fraudulently induced her to pay N45,000.00 (Forty-five Thousand Naira) into the GTbank account 045262140 of one Hassan Adefemi Daniel for hostel accommodation, a representation you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 320 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 322 of the same Law.”

Dr. Dre’s wife, Nicole Young, has officially filed for divorce from the hip-hop mogul after 24 years of marriage. The Federal Government has given approval for safe resumption of domestic flights in the country. This comes after it lifted the ban placed on interstate travels with effect from July 1, provided such journeys are made outside curfew hours. The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, disclosed this at the ongoing daily briefing of the task force in Abuja on Monday. Mustapha, who is also the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, disclosed that the latest developments were contained in the task force’s fifth interim report which was submitted to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), earlier in the day. Iran has issued an arrest warrant for U.S. President Donald Trump and 35 others over the killing of top general Qassem Soleimani and has asked Interpol for help, Tehran prosecutor Ali Alqasimehr said on Monday, according to the Fars news agency. The United States and Interpol both dismissed the idea of acting on such a warrant. The United States killed Soleimani, leader of the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force, with a drone strike in Iraq on Jan. 3. Access Bank on Sunday said it will refund its stamp duty deductions made from the account of its aggrieved customers after a social media outcry on Saturday. Stamp duty deductions apply to all credit received into current and savings accounts in respect to electronic transfer and teller deposits of N10, 000 and above. The money is remitted to the Central Bank of Nigeria. Brand Spur Nigeria learnt that Access Bank Nigeria has also promised to revert deductions made between Saturday and Sunday back to customers. According to a statement made on Sunday, the bank said it recognized that it is a tough period for customers. Reacting to customers’ reactions over the usual deductions, Acess Bank said, “We have considered your feedback and have decided to pay the stamp duty on our customers’ behalf for the affected period only,”. “This means that individuals and SMEs who were debited for the accumulated stamp duty charge for February to April 2020 will be refunded.” In an earlier statem
