COZA: Nigerian lawyers write IGP, demand justice over Biodun Fatoyinbo

- COPA wants IGP Adamu to ensure justice is done in the case filed by Busola Dakolo against the pastor
- The coalition's leader, Pelumi Olajengbesi, also wants Pastor Fatoyinbo to be tried in Lagos where the case was filed
The Coalition of Public Interests Lawyers and Advocates (COPA) have written the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, asking him to ensure justice is served in case involving Biodun Fatoyinbo, senior pastor, Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Pelumi Olajengbesi, convener of COPA, said in a statement on Monday, July 8, that the group is asking that the matter is not under the carpet.
Olajengbesi also asked that the pastor should be tried in Lagos where the matter was reported.
“Our demands are simply that the matter be allowed its due course within the jurisdiction where the complaint was filed," he said while calling on the police to take urgent action on the matter that had already in the public glare without giving rooms for doubt in their ability.
The lawyer further called for the execution of a valid and active warrant of arrest against Fatoyinbo in order to restore the confidence of the ordinary Nigerians.
The convener also said the coalition would diligently continue to monitor matters as they arise to ensure fairness and justice.
Busola Dakolo filed a petition against Pastor Biodun on June 27, at the office of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of police in Alagbon, Ikoyi alleging that the clergy molested her.
Busola, who is the wife of Nigeria’s inspirational singer, Timi Dakolo, claimed she was molested when she was 17 years old.
Legit.ng reported earlier that Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo recently stepped down from performing his pastoral duties in his church.
Fatoyinbo made the announcement in a statement he released on his Instagram page saying he would be taking a leave of absence from the pulpit of the church.
