Everton are closing in on a deal to sign Juventus forward Moise Kean. Rev. Israel Akanji, the North-Central Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has stated that God will restore Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo even if he is found guilty of the rape allegation against him by Busola Dakolo. Two church pastors invited the Caucasian man to their country then managed to convince their followers that he’s Jesus Christ of Nazareth and he has finally come back as promised. Tanko Muhammad, the new Chief Justice of Nigeria has claimed he is without certificates. This was made known via some documents submitted to the Senate last week ahead of his confirmation as the head of the Supreme Court. The documents revealed claims of termites destroying the CJN’s primary school certificate. According to him, the invasion of termites at his Bauchi State home in 1998 ensured that “No portion of the certificate was salvaged,” Mr Muhammad said. Reports also have it that the Supreme court head swore the affidavit on February 13, 2002, while still a judge at the Jos Division of the Court of Appeal and before he became a Supreme Court judge in 2007. Justice Tanko Mohammed became the new Chief Justice of Nigeria by President Buhari today following his swearing-in which was also done today.

Protesting members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria have shot dead a senior police officer, DCP Umar, who was in charge of Operations at the Federal Capital Territory Police Command. Umar was reportedly gunned down as he tried to pacify the rampaging Shi’ite members who disrupted commercial activities and vehicular movement during their protest at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, today. He was immediately taken to an undisclosed hospital where he gave up the ghost. The protesters also destroyed vehicles while a Channels Television reporter was also hit by bullets; His identity and condition could not be immediately ascertained. Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered that petitions from the Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Abuja, Biodun Fatoyinbo, and the Dakolos, be merged and investigated at the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos. Lawyer to the Dakolos, Mr Femi Falana, made the revelation during a telephone conversation with The PUNCH on Monday. Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, told our correspondent that the IG had assured that justice would be done in the matter. While denying that the police authorities had refused to act on the Dakolos’ petition, the human rights lawyer said the case would be brought to Lagos because the family were the first to petition the police.
