The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured an interim order to seize the $2.8million which its operatives recently intercepted at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu. The anti-graft agency has also retrieved documents on foreign transactions from the Enugu branch of Union Bank. Neither the bank nor the Bankers Warehouse has approached the EFCC to lay formal claim to the cash. Bankers Warehouse only allegedly wrote to an unnamed Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on the cash. The Nation gathered that the EFCC secured the interim forfeiture order from a Federal High Court in Enugu on Friday. Three police officers attached to Ijanikin Division in Lagos State have been dismissed from the Force for robbing a Togo-based Nigerian of 350,000 CFA (about N221,508). The Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs), namely: Gbemunu Afolabi, Afolabi Oluwaseun and Adigun Omotayo were dismissed over corruption charges. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) had reported on Wednesday that four policemen were arrested for allegedly robbing one Theodore Ifunnaya of 350,000 CFA (about N221,508). The dismissed personnel accosted the victim, a Nigerian based in Togo who came to celebrate Christmas in Nigeria, and subjected him to tortuous search and interrogation. At least eight(8) People were burnt to death in an accident at Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday. It was gathered that the accident which happened at the popular ‘Oluwa’ bridge along the Lagos-Benin expressway in Ore involved a Toyota Hiace bus. Confirming the incident to our correspondent, Segun Ogungbemide, the Head of Operations, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state said the vehicle’s tyre got damaged before it caught while on motion. Ogungbemide revealed that eight passengers in the bus were burnt to death in the accident.

The Miyeeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), a Fulani Socio-cultural group, has endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari as its sole presidential candidate for the 2019 general election. The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) on Thursday, made it clear that the indecisive disposition of the Muhammadu Buhari administration to the implementation of a new national minimum wage was unacceptable. NECA also described an industrial action in January next year, due to slow action in transmitting a bill to the National Assembly, as promised by President Buhari, as counter-productive and disruptive to businesses in the country. The Director-General of NECA, Timothy Olawale, stated these in a statement issued in Lagos. A suspect arrested allegedly for killing former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (Rtd) has revealed why the general was killed. 25-year-old Shuaibu Rabo while being interrogated by Police said Badeh was killed in an attack to rob him of money meant for the purchase of a new farmland, Daily Trust reports.
