UPDATED: Govt offices can open from Monday – FG

Federal offices nationwide can open from May 4 for workers to resume work, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has said. The resumption will be based on specific grade levels, the PTF explained. Also, the banking, construction, construction, manufacturing sectors, as well as food processing companies, will be allowed to open from Monday, the PTF further said. The PTF noted that banks will be allowed to open from 8am to 2pm daily while observing the new restrictions put in place by the government. National Coordinator of the PTF on Covid-19, Dr. Aliyu Sani stated these during the daily briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 pandemic. The national coordinator said that temperature test, respiratory hygiene and restriction of gathering of not more than 20 persons will be introduced. President Buhari reportedly appoints dead Ebonyi lawmaker as member, Board Of Federal Character Commission

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a dead former lawmaker from Ebonyi State, Tobias Chukwuemeka Okwuru, to the board of the Federal Character Commission, SaharaReporters reports. The appointment of the late Okwuru alongside 37 others was contained in a letter Buhari sent to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation. Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, read out the letter on Tuesday during plenary.  But findings by SaharaReporters has revealed that Okwuru, who once represented Ikwo/Ezza Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, died in February 2020 at the age of 59.  During his lifetime, he served as state auditor of Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Whip of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, before moving to represent his constituency at the National Assembly.  Interestingly, this won’t be the first time President Buhari will be giving appointment to dead people. The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID19 has released the guidelines for the ease of the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and the FCT which will come into effect next week Monday May 4. Briefing newsmen on the guidelines for the ease of the lockdown, the National coordinator of the Presidential taskforce on COVID19, Sani Aliyu, said Interstate travels remain banned except for essential services. For intrastate activities, banks are to open between the hours of 8pm to 2pm while adhering to all the COVID-19 prevention guidelines. . Schools are remained closed. Restaurants are to remain closed but can do home deliveries. COVID-19: FG Shares N43.416bn To 24 States

The Federal Government has disbursed N43.416 billion tp 24 eligible states. The Director of Press and Public Relations in the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mr. Hassan Dodo, made this known in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday.  She stated that the 24 beneficiary states that met the eligibility criteria were Abia, Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Delta, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Sokoto, Taraba and Yobe States.  Dodo said the Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed said the fund was under the performance-based grant component of the World Bank-Assisted States Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) Programme-for-Results. Ahmed explained that the project was wholly-financed with a loan amount of 750 million dollars from the International Development Association (IDA), a member of the World Bank Group. She said that the disbursement followed t...

Coronavirus: Lagos Suspends Okada Operations All Over The State

The Lagos State Government has ordered the suspension of operations of okada riders all over the state until further notice.  The move is to curb the spread of Coronavirus. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the disclosure on Wednesday at a news conference to give update on Coronavirus situation in Lagos.  According to Sanwo-Olu, “Commercial Motorcycles, popularly known as Okadas, are to suspend their operations statewide, except for those motorcycles used for courier and logistics purposes. “Tricycles (Kekes) operating in unrestricted areas, must not carry more than two passengers per trip and must ensure appropriate social distancing is maintained between passengers.”   On other transportation, the governor said the capacity of its public transportation system to reduce the risk of contagion would also be strengthened by a number of proactive measures to be undertaken by the government.  He said one of the measures was that all commuters were mandated to ...

Man Wins $1 million Lottery Twice After Playing Same Set Of Numbers (Photo)

A man in the United States has won $1 million twice on the same day after playing the same set of numbers, proving the odds are definitely in his favor.  The Colorado man,  “Joe B”  won two, $1 million Powerball prizes on March 25 while playing the same set of numbers, the Colorado Lottery said in a press release. The Pueblo man came to claim his prize Monday at the Lottery’s drive-thru claims office.  According to reports, Joe bought a few Powerball plays in the morning at a 7-Eleven on Lake Ave., and that same night, bought some more at Loaf N’ Jug, also on Lake Ave., the release said.  CNN reports that he has been playing the same numbers (5-9-27-39-42) for 30 years. Although this is the first time an incident like this is being reported for the Colorado Powerball, a similar one had happened in Virginia in 2012, CNN reported.  Sharing is Caring loading...
