In Ilorin, Kwara state, one Abubakar Abdulbashit Opeyemi, a final-year student at the University of Ilorin, and two other undergraduate students were sentenced to prison for cybercrime. Alimi Abiodun and Idowu Rasaq Olarewaju, students at Kwara State University, KWASU, Molete and Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, respectively, are the other two prisoners. The three undergraduates were found guilty and sentenced to varying jail terms by Justice Mahmood Abdulgafar of the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin after the court found them guilty of numerous offenses brought against them by the EFCC. The three defendants, who were each charged separately, pleaded guilty to the crime brought against them. As a result, Abdulbashit Opeyemi was sentenced to six months in prison, with a one-year suspension.
